Environ Shines Bright With Gold Win At The 2024 Glamour Beauty Awards
South Africa: January 2025
Environ Skin Care has once again been recognised for its commitment to innovation and scientific skincare excellence, winning Gold at the prestigious 2024 Glamour South Africa Beauty Awards. The accolade was awarded to Environ’s Intense C-Boost® Mela-Even Cream, a formulation that showcases the brand’s pioneering use of vitamin C in skincare.
Dr Des Fernandes, Co-Founder and Scientific Director of Environ, began formulating with vitamin C over 25 years ago, pioneering the use of its oil-soluble form to optimise this powerful skin nutrient. “We have always believed in using vitamin C in its most effective form. The Intense C-Boost® Mela-Even Cream is a result of years of research to develop a scientifically advanced formulation that helps minimise the appearance of skin discolouration, improves protection against UV-induced cell damage, and enhances skin resistance to oxidative stress,” says Dr Fernandes.
Intense C-Boost® Mela-Even Cream contains an expertly blended combination of the antioxidant vitamins C and E, which may assist in shielding the skin from environmental stressors as well as inhibiting tyrosine conversion to improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and visible sun damage. The result is skin that looks healthier and more evenly toned.
Environ’s award-winning formulation features Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, a scientifically proven, oil-soluble form of vitamin C that works synergistically with vitamin E. This powerful combination has been shown to:

About Environ Skin Care
Environ is a globally recognised and loved Professional Skin Care brand that is built on science, beauty, and care. Environ believes that skin has a life, and that vitamin A is the “oxygen” it needs to look beautiful and healthy for life. It is for this reason that the brand actively pursues skincare science to skillfully and consistently develop innovative products that work with skin. Environ was founded in 1990 by an internationally acclaimed plastic surgeon, Dr Des Fernandes.
The introduction of vitamin A into skincare formulations was a ground-breaking development in skincare. Dr. Des Fernandes, rated amongst the top five plastic surgeons in the world, was a pioneer in this field in the 1980s. He was the first to use vitamin A in high enough doses that help counteract the harmful effects of the environment, pollution, and stress to create radiant, visibly improved skin.
Dr. Des Fernandes’s sister, Val Carstens (Environ’s Group Chairman), led the development of the company which today boasts over 140 products, available in more than 70 countries worldwide. Since founding Environ in 1990, vitamin A has become the cornerstone ingredient in the Environ skincare philosophy. It is an essential skin nutrient that must be replenished every day for skin to appear healthier and more resilient.
Environ’s unique and highly effective Vitamin STEP-UP SYSTEM® helps skin to become gradually more comfortable with increasing dosages of vitamin A and other ingredients thereby reducing the likelihood of a skin reaction. It is for this reason that Environ Skin Care products are recommended by trained Skincare Professionals.
